Job Description
North Georgia College & State University is currently accepting applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Psychology and Sociology. North Georgia is the Military College of Georgia as well as a Georgia Leadership Institution. With 5300 students, North Georgia is an integral part of the beautiful mountain town of Dahlonega, Georgia, located about one hour north of Atlanta. The anticipated employment date is August 1, 2010.
Job Duties
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses including Introductory Sociology and Social Problems, have primary responsibility for Research Methods and teach a variety of substantive courses possibly including Globalization, Race and Ethnicity and Political Sociology, although we are open with regard to substantive interest. The candidate will also advise students, provide professional service to the institution and community and produce scholarship consistent with department standards. We are seeking a colleague who shares our commitment to innovative teaching and community engagement. The teaching load is 4/4.
Qualifications
The candidate must have a doctoral degree in sociology by August, 2010. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantitative methods. Some experience in online instruction is highly desirable.
